Selection process 

 

4.1  The selection of candidates for admission to D.M. / M.Ch. Courses will be done on the basis the marks obtained in the respective Admission test. Three tests will be held separately- one for the DM courses, the second for the M. Ch. Courses and the third for the M. Ch. (6 years) Course.

4.2.Applicants will be provisionally allowed to appear in the Admission tests provided they have submitted application in the prescribed forms within the last date and have fulfilled the eligibility criteria outlined above.

4.3. The question papers for the Admission tests shall be set in English

4.4. The question paper for the Admission test for M. Ch. (6 years) Course will contain

100 single best response type Multiple Choice Questions. The following list shows the tentative number of questions that would ordinarily be set from different subjects in the question paper for that course:

 

General Surgery - 20 questions

Orthopaedics, Physical Medicine -10 questions

Anaesthesia, Radio-diagnosis, Radiotherapy -10 questions

Ophthalmology, Otorhinolaryngology -10 questions

General Medicine, Paediatrics, Psychiatry, Dermatology -20 questions

Anatomy, Physiology, Biochemistry, Community Medicine, Forensic Medicine-15 questions

Pharmacology,  Pathology, Microbiology, Obstetrics & Gynaecology-15 questions

 

 4.5. The question paper for the Admission test for D.M./ M. Ch. (3 years) Course shall be of two sets. The first set will contain 30 single best response type Multiple Choice Questions on either General Medicine including related basic sciences (for D.M.) or General Surgery including related basic sciences (for M.Ch.). The second set will contain 50 single best response type Multiple Choice Questions on any one of the following disciplines as per the preference indicated by the candidate.:

4.6. The candidature of each candidate will be limited to his/ her preferred choice of discipline.

4.7.The total time to be allowed is 65 minutes except in case of M. Ch (6years) where it is 80 minutes. 

4.8.A candidate will be awarded three (3) marks for every correct answer. One (1) mark will be deducted for every incorrect answer. More than a single response to any question will also be regarded as incorrect answer. No marks will be deducted for questions not attempted.

4.9.The provisional merit list will be published on the basis of marks obtained in the Admission examination as specified below:

4.9.1.       M. Ch. (6 years): on the basis of marks obtained in the specified Admission examination.

4.9.2.       D.M. and M. Ch (3years): on the basis of marks obtained in the specified admission examination consisting of 80 questions, i,e., marks obtained in 30 questions of the common set + marks obtained in 50 questions of the optional subject-specific set. Qualifying minimum for empanelment for interview will be 50% marks.

4.9.3.       The candidates of the provisional merit list of D.M. and M. Ch. (3 years) courses will have to appear in an interview of 60 marks on the discipline concerned on a date to be declared by WBUHS in its website along with the results of WBPDMAT. The final merit list will be published on the basis of total marks obtained in the Admission examination for D.M. or M. Ch. (3 years) and interview taken together.

4.10.Qualifying marks for empanelment in the final merit list will be a minimum of 150 marks
