superbdoc Total Posts: 273 | Posted: Wed Oct 29, 2008 06:41 pm The no of dioptres of accommodation needed to focus at a near point is inversely proportional to distance in metres. So at a near point of 20cms i.e 1/5 metres, an emmetropic eye has to exercise accomodation of +5 dioptres ; (N.B Correction to be applied: +5D for near fixation and +4D for hypermetropia) Here it is hypermetrope so he will have to accommodate +9 dioptres. Beware of twists in question esp wordings...SO dont mug up...Understand the basics thoroughly before committing..Ophthal is the toughtest and high standard always in AIIMS I hope my explanation helped cleared your doubt |
