When can a candidate appear for MRCOG Part 1 Examination ?
Candidates are eligible to enter for the MRCOG Part 1 examination when they have obtained their medical degree. However, candidates are advised to attempt the MRCOG Part 1 examination only after they have had some grounding in postgraduate obstetrics and gynaecology.

Note: Candidates may take the MRCOG Part 1 examination at any time and must pass it before attempting the MRCOG Part 2 examination.

Where can a candidate appear for MRCOG Part 1 Examination?
The MRCOG Part 1 examination is held in the British Isles and at selected overseas centres in March and September.

What is the pattern of MRCOG Part 1 Examination ?
The examination is in basic and applied sciences and consists of two multiple choice question (MCQ) papers, each lasting two hours.

What is the range of questions of MRCOG Part 1 Examination ?
The MRCOG Part 1 examination covers those subjects which form part of the general education of any specialist and particularly those subjects which are applicable to obstetrics and gynaecology.

What documents must be sent for MRCOG Part 1 application to be processed ?
1. Your primary medical degree certificate (i.e. MB BS, BM, MB ChB etc.) or a certified (countersigned) copy
2. The MRCOG Part 1 application form or re-sit form
3. The MRCOG Part 1 examination fee.

If I have sat the MRCOG before, do I need to send my medical degree certificate again to resit ?
No, your degree certificate or attested copy needs to be sent only once.

Can a certificate be obtained for passing MRCOG Part 1 ?
No, certificates are only issued upon completion of MROCG Part 2. Please retain your MRCOG Part 1 pass letter as it is the only certification that you will receive. Using 'Part 1 MRCOG' on letterheads, business cards, nameplates, etc. should not be done.

Note: Even if you state new/married name on the form, still registration is done under former name - For matters of medical security, the name that appears on your degree certificate or certificate of medical registration is used.

Which documents are required to register under new/married name ?
1. A re-issued degree certificate or certificate of medical registration stating your new/married name
2. A copy of your marriage certificate/affidavit showing both your former and new names.

I want to apply for MRCOG Part 1 Examination. How do I proceed ?
Step A: Get following -
1. Your primary medical degree certificate (i.e. MB BS, BM, MB ChB etc.) or a certified (countersigned) copy
2. The MRCOG Part 1 application form (for first timers) or re-sit form (Applicants with a College Registration number (previous applicants, those wishing to resit the Part 1 exam or to take or resit the Part 2 Exam) should email examsadmin@rcog.org.uk to request an application form. Please state your College Registration number in your email)
3. The MRCOG Part 1 examination fee (£275.00)
Step B: Send It -
The above documents with the correct entry fee, in pounds sterling, must reach the College by the following closing dates:
1 December for the March examination, or
1 June for the September examination
